John M is a Linux fan in Lowell, MA.
I work at at a company writing software. I fool around with Free and Open Source software for fun & profit.
I was big into Last.fm and you can still see some of what I listen to there. I can also be found using github and recently sourcehut as well as bitbucket (historically). I don't care for most popular social media sites. If I have an account on one or the other it's probably either old and unused or was created just for tinkering.
Links to things I like, use, or otherwise feel is worth sharing. Things I'd like to see get more popular.
In another round of the always entertaining game of spot the Free Software, comes a recent sighting of KDE in Primetime television :-). On NBC's new show "Heroes" early in the episode one of the characters is using her laptop which, as any super-powered stripper mom's laptop would, runs KDE.
I have screenshots (sorry about the size) to prove it too :-). You can clearly see the K-button in the lower left hand side of the screen in the first shot and the kopete icon is also visible in her chat window. I kinda think I recognize the windeco too, but the titlebar seems mostly oscured in all the scenes.
EDIT: Page was loading too slowly with the pics inline. Made 'em into links.
